3) Three Act Structure. All movies have three acts. The first act is the introduction. The second act is twice as long as the first act and is the journey of the story. The third act is as long as the first act and your conclusion. Not only do you want to figure out what happens in each act but you want to know the main event or scene that ends each act and starts the next act.
Beginning Middle and End. You want to know how your story begins and ends. I always work backwards and figure out how it ends then I figure out the mid-point. Then I figure out where it should start. Keep in mind the importance of the first 10 pages. I also look at midpoint of the movie. The middle of the movie is a crucial even that turns the plot towards the start of the resolution. This major event is just as important as how the movie ends. You want to figure this out in the beginning of the movie script writing process.
